As part of its efforts to enhance the sustainability of water services and strengthen community-based project management, Bena Charity for Human Development (BCFHD) has implemented an activity to form management committees for four water projects in Al-Jum‘ah Sub-district, Al-Mokha District, Taiz Governorate.
The activity included the formation of committees for the following projects: Al-Shuaib Water Project in Al-Shuaib area – Al-Azyoud Village; Al-Shatt Water Project in Al-Shatt area – Al-Ma‘amirah Village; Al-Utah Bani Naji Water Project in Al-Utah area – Al-Ma‘amirah Village; and Al-Saheli Water Project in Al-Saheli area – Al-Ma‘amirah Village.
This activity is implemented as part of the Results-Based Humanitarian Approach Project in Yemen, carried out in partnership with Oxfam and funded by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), within the framework of the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) component.
The project aims to empower the most vulnerable and marginalized communities, including internally displaced persons (IDPs) and host communities, to access adequate, dignified, inclusive, gender-sensitive, and safe WASH services. This contributes to preventing public health risks and reducing morbidity and mortality rates caused by diseases, particularly those related to water and sanitation.
The activity was attended by Mr. Mohammed Al-Muqaddam, Director of the Community Participation Department in Al-Mokha District; Mr. Othman Tahoush, Head of the Social Affairs Committee in Al-Mokha District; and Mr. Abdulqawi Saad, Director of the Rural Water Authority Branch in Al-Mokha District. The attendees emphasized the importance of strengthening the role of local communities in managing water projects and ensuring their sustainability.
