Bena Charity for Human Development (BCFHD) has officially handed over the work site located near Saddam School IDP hosting site in Al-Qahirah District to the implementing contractor, in preparation for the commencement of rehabilitation works on the damaged water network at the site.
The handover process was conducted in the presence of representatives of the local authorities, including Mr. Ahmed Al-Mashmar, Director General of Al-Qahirah District; Mr. Abdulmalik Amin, Secretary-General of the District; Eng. Zaid Sultan, Projects Director at the Local Water and Sanitation Corporation; and Mr. Ali Qaed, Director of the Executive Unit at the Governorate. The event was also attended by Mr. Tawfiq Abdulkhabeer, Secretary-General of Bena Charity, and Mr. Suleiman Al-Samadi, Project Manager.
This activity is implemented as part of the Camp Coordination and Camp Management (CCCM) component under the multi-sectoral project No. (35194), funded by the Yemen Humanitarian Fund (YHF). The intervention aims to improve infrastructure and enhance access to essential water services at IDP hosting sites.
The intervention will include excavation and backfilling works to extend a 20-meter water supply line, the establishment of household water distribution points for 140 families, and the installation of 140 water meters to ensure equitable and well-organized water distribution.
It is expected that 1,019 individuals, including internally displaced persons, marginalized groups, and host community members, will benefit from this activity, contributing to improved safe and sustainable access to drinking water and enhanced living and health conditions at the site.
This intervention reflects BCFHD’s commitment, in coordination with relevant authorities and stakeholders, to supporting affected communities and strengthening essential services amid the current humanitarian challenges.
