On Tuesday, 17/02/2026, Bena Charity for Human Development (BCFHD) officially handed over the rehabilitated water network (following the restoration of its water supply system) at the site surrounding Saddam School for IDP hosting to the Local Water and Sanitation Corporation – Taiz. This step comes as part of the organization’s interventions aimed at strengthening sustainable access to water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) services in IDP hosting sites, and ensuring service continuity by transferring the system to the relevant authorities for effective and sustainable management and operation.
This activity is implemented under the project:
“Enhancing Resilience through the Provision of Lifesaving Multi-Sectoral Assistance (Food Security and Agriculture, WASH, Protection, and Camp Coordination and Camp Management) to Vulnerable IDPs and Host Communities in Al-Qahirah, Maqbanah, and Ash Shamayatayn Districts,”
The project is funded by the Yemen Humanitarian Fund (YHF).
The intervention aims to reduce health and environmental risks that may affect displaced families and host communities due to limited access to safe water services, and to provide a safer and healthier environment by improving essential infrastructure in hosting sites and surrounding areas.
The handover ceremony was attended by representatives of the local authority, including the Director General of Al-Qahirah District, Mr. Ahmed Al-Mashmir; the Secretary-General of Al-Qahirah District, Mr. Abdulmalik Amin; the Projects Director at the Local Water and Sanitation Corporation, Eng. Zayed Sultan; the Head of the Executive Unit in Taiz Governorate, Mr. Ali Qaed Al-Shamiri; as well as representatives from Bena Charity, including the Executive Director, Mr. Tareq Al-Hammadi; the Project Manager, Mr. Suleiman Al-Samadi; and others.
