Bena Charity Launches Distribution of Vegetable Seeds and Farming Tools to 1,400 Farming Households in Al-Misrakh.

Bena Charity for Human Development launched the distribution of five varieties of vegetable seeds—tomatoes, onions, molokhia, okra, and chili peppers—along with hand farming tool kits to 1,400 farming households across four sub-districts in Al-Misrakh District, Taiz Governorate.

The activity aims to strengthen the resilience of farming families, improve their food security, and enhance their livelihoods. The distribution was accompanied by awareness sessions on climate-smart and good agricultural practices, delivered by a specialized team from the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation.

This intervention is part of the Emergency Agriculture and Nutrition Response Project, funded by the World Bank Group and implemented through Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in partnership with Bena Charity. The project targets 3,100 households in Al-Mokha and Al-Misrakh districts through:
– Livestock support: distribution of female goats and fodder to 1,200 households.
– Agricultural inputs and cash assistance: provision of seeds, farming tools, and unconditional cash transfers to 1,900 households.
– Training on nutrition, good agricultural practices, and animal husbandry.

The launch event was attended by:
– Eng. Abdullah Al-Duaees, Director General of the Agriculture and Irrigation Office in Taiz Governorate.
– Mr. Faris Al-Maliki, Director General of Al-Misrakh District and Head of the Local Council.
– Eng. Mohammed Abdu Ali, Director of Agricultural Guidance and Training.
– Dr. Faisal Al-Subari, Project Coordinator.

In his remarks, the Director General of Al-Misrakh District expressed his deep appreciation to FAO and Benaa Charity for their efforts in supporting farming and herding families in the district.

For his part, the Director General of the Agriculture and Irrigation Office highlighted the importance of such interventions in boosting local agricultural production, calling for their expansion to cover all sub-districts of Al-Misrakh and other districts in the governorate.

Project Coordinator Dr. Faisal Al-Subari extended his thanks to the local authorities and the Agriculture Office for their cooperation and facilitation, which have helped ensure the project achieves its objectives and benefits its target communities.
