BCFHD Launches World Breastfeeding Week Activities in Al-Mawaset District.

Bena Charity for Human Development (BCFHD), in coordination with the Public Health and Population Office in Taiz Governorate, has launched the activities of World Breastfeeding Week as part of the Integrated Response Project addressing nutrition and protection needs in crisis-affected areas, implemented in partnership with Save the Children and funded by Global Affairs Canda-International Humanitarian Assistance.

The activities commenced in Al-Mawaset District, with Hilal Shamsan School in Al-Ashrooh hosting the opening event. The program featured awareness-raising speeches, poetic and musical performances, in addition to traditional theatrical sketches highlighting the importance of breastfeeding and its vital role in safeguarding children’s health and promoting their proper growth and development.

The event was attended by Dr. Basheer Al-Hammadi, Director of the Health Office in Al-Mawaset, Dr. Majeed Al-Khamiri, Community Health and Nutrition Volunteers Officer, and Mr. Abdulhameed Al-Hammadi, Health Education and Awareness Officer. Also in attendance were health center directors, medical staff, social figures, community health and nutrition volunteers, along with a large gathering of parents and students.

World Breastfeeding Week activities will continue across the targeted districts through a series of community and awareness events, with the participation of health workers and community volunteers, aiming to raise awareness on the significance of breastfeeding for the health of both children and mothers, and to promote sound practices that ensure the development of a healthier and stronger generation.
