Bena Charity for Human Development (BCFHD) concluded a training program targeting adolescents in Al-Ma’afer and Maqbanah districts of Taiz Governorate. The activity was implemented as part of the project “Integrated Response Project addressing nutrition and protection needs in crisis-affected areas”, carried out in partnership with Save the Children and funded by Global Affairs Canda-International Humanitarian Assistance.
The five-day training, held from March 1 to 5, 2026, engaged 14 adolescent participants from the two targeted districts. The program aimed to strengthen their capacities and empower them to play an active role in raising awareness among their peers, as part of broader efforts to support Child Protection Committees and enhance community-level child protection.
The training featured interactive sessions and practical activities focusing on child protection concepts in emergencies and guiding principles for working with children. It also introduced the peer education methodology, covering its concept, importance, key characteristics of peer educators, and their roles, in addition to approaches for effectively planning and delivering peer-to-peer awareness sessions.
Furthermore, the program addressed a range of essential life skills that contribute to building adolescents’ confidence and positive engagement within their communities, including communication skills, teamwork, and self-expression. These skills enable participants to effectively convey awareness messages to their peers within their communities.
This activity forms part of BCFHD’s ongoing efforts to promote adolescents’ participation in community initiatives that support child protection and to empower them to contribute to raising awareness on child protection and nutrition issues within their local communities.
