Bena Charity for Human Development (BCFHD) launched the distribution of school bags for students and teaching kits for teachers at Al-Ehsan School in Al-Mudhaffar District, Taiz Governorate, as part of the project “Empowering Out of School Children (OOSC) and Children at Risk of Dropping Out (CRDO) through formal and non-formal education, child protection and psychosocial support (PSS) services in five districts of Taiz Governorate, Yemen”, implemented in partnership with War Child and supported by the European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (ECHO).
This activity comes within ongoing efforts to support the education sector, reduce school dropout rates, and encourage out-of-school children to return to learning by providing essential educational supplies that help create a conducive and motivating learning environment.
The launch event was attended by Mr. Yousuf Ghalib, Head of the Projects and Equipment Division at the Education Office, and Mr. Aref Al-Mujahid, Deputy Director of the Education Office in Al-Mudhaffar District, along with the school administration. The event also saw the participation of the project team from War Child and Bena Charity, as well as a number of teachers.
During the event, school bags were distributed to targeted students, contributing to easing the financial burden on families and enhancing students’ motivation to enroll and continue their education. In addition, teaching kits were distributed to teachers to support their role in improving the quality of education and delivering more effective and inclusive learning.
Participants emphasized the importance of such interventions in supporting compensatory and non-formal education pathways, contributing to the reintegration of out-of-school children into the education system and improving their access to safe and inclusive learning opportunities, particularly in light of the challenges facing the education sector in the governorate.
This activity is part of a series of interventions implemented across the targeted districts in Taiz Governorate, reflecting Bena Charity’s and its partners’ commitment to promoting Education in Emergencies as a key pillar for protection, recovery, and building a better future for children.
