BCFHD Hands Over Rural Roads Rehabilitation Project in Al-Sha’ubah, Al-Ma’afer District.

As part of its ongoing efforts to enhance livelihoods and improve rural infrastructure, the Benevolent Charitable Foundation for Human Development (BCFHD) has officially handed over a rural roads rehabilitation project in Al-Sha’ubah sub-district, Al-Ma’afer District in Taiz Governorate. The project was implemented under the “Building Resilience Through Integrated Community-Based and Humanitarian Systems Transformation and Leadership in Yemen” project, funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), in partnership with Oxfam.

The project included the rehabilitation of Ghayl Al-Kassar Road, in addition to addressing some of the most difficult and rugged road sections in the villages of Al-Aridhah, Al-Wuhaiz, Nakh’aan, and Kawkab. The works involved leveling, stone paving, and construction of retaining walls, covering a total length of 1,575 meters, contributing to improving mobility and access to essential services for local communities.

The project was implemented through the Cash-for-Work modality, engaging 121 beneficiaries from the local community, which helped provide temporary employment opportunities and enhance household incomes, while also delivering tangible improvements to local infrastructure.

The project was officially handed over to the local authority in Al-Ma’afer District in the presence of Mr. Mohammed Ali Fare’, Secretary-General of the Local Council; Mr. Salah Al-Tamimi, Community Participation Manager; Mr. Omar Abdul Tawab, Project Manager; and Eng. Zaher Al-Yousufi, Project Officer.

This intervention comes as part of broader efforts to support local communities and strengthen their resilience in the face of economic and service-related challenges through sustainable development initiatives that address community needs and improve living conditions.
