Bena Charity for Human Development (BCFHD) has officially launched the construction of 10 classrooms and 10 sanitation facilities in Mawza’a District, Taiz Governorate, as part of the project “Small Hands, Big Dreams: Empowering Out of School Children (OOSC) and Children at Risk of Dropping Out (CRDO) through Formal and Non-Formal Education, Child Protection and Psychosocial Support (PSS) Services in Five Districts of Taiz Governorate, Yemen.” The project is implemented in partnership with War Child and funded by European Union Humanitarian Aid.

The commencement of construction follows the successful handover of the project sites to the contractors last week, marking the start of one of the project’s key infrastructure interventions aimed at improving access to safe, inclusive, and quality learning environments for children in the targeted communities.

The intervention includes the construction of four classrooms and four sanitation facilities in Al-Majash, and six classrooms and six sanitation facilities in Al-Ghallah, Mawza’a District. The new facilities are expected to improve school infrastructure, reduce classroom overcrowding, and expand access to quality education for children.

BCFHD emphasized that this intervention responds to the educational needs of the targeted communities and reflects its commitment, in partnership with War Child and with funding from European Union Humanitarian Aid, to strengthening education infrastructure and creating safe, child-friendly, and inclusive learning environments, particularly for out-of-school children and those at risk of dropping out.

Construction works will be carried out in accordance with the approved engineering and technical specifications, in close coordination with the relevant authorities and local stakeholders, to ensure high-quality implementation and timely completion.

This activity forms part of a comprehensive package of project interventions that promote formal and non-formal education, strengthen child protection, and provide psychosocial support services, contributing to improved access to education, increased school retention, and a more resilient future for children and communities across Taiz Governorate.
