Bena Charity for Human Development, in partnership with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and with funding from the United Nations Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF), has launched the first phase of livestock distribution as part of the Emergency Agricultural and Nutrition Response Project to support the most vulnerable families in Al-Mokha and Al-Misrakh districts in Taiz governorate.
The first phase targeted four villages in Wateer sub-district of Al-Misrakh, where 110 beneficiaries received a total of 440 goats, distributed as follows:
Al-Thawjan: 33 beneficiaries – 132 goats
Al-Mahja: 25 beneficiaries – 100 goats
Al-Dhahra: 39 beneficiaries – 156 goats
Al-Masajid: 11 beneficiaries – 52 goats
This activity is part of the broader effort to strengthen livelihoods and improve food security for highly vulnerable households. In the upcoming phases, an additional 222 beneficiaries from the villages of Al-Mazhad, Aqn, Dharhaba, Al-Dhira’, Aad, and Wadi Al-Arsh – also located in Wateer sub-district – will receive livestock support.
The overall project aims to support 700 beneficiaries with livestock and 1,400 beneficiaries with agricultural inputs in Al-Misrakh district, in addition to 500 beneficiaries in livestock and 500 in agriculture in Al-Mokha district.
This initiative is part of ongoing emergency efforts to enhance food security and provide sustainable income sources for rural families amidst the ongoing humanitarian and economic challenges in Taiz Governorate.
