Bena Charity for human development (BCFHD) actively Participates in the Closing of Environmental & Social Compliance and GRM Workshop in Aden

Under the patronage of Major General Salem Abdullah Al-Soqotri, Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Fisheries and Acting FAO Representative in Yemen, the specialized training workshop on “Environmental and Social Compliance & Grievance Redress Mechanisms” concluded today in Aden.

The workshop comes within the activities of the Emergency Food Security Response Project in Yemen, funded by the World Bank Group and implemented by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations – FAO.

Bena charity for human Development participated throughout the five-day workshop. Participants from Bena, along with other partner organizations, received intensive theoretical and practical knowledge, accompanied by extensive discussions with national and international trainers and experts.

Bena’s role was highlighted through:
1. Technical Contribution: The Association’s team presented field-based recommendations drawn from its experience in implementing agricultural and humanitarian projects, ensuring alignment with environmental and social standards.
2. Strengthening GRM: Bena actively contributed to sessions on Stakeholder Engagement Plans and Grievance Redress Mechanisms, emphasizing the importance of making these mechanisms accessible to beneficiaries in targeted areas.
3. Linking Outputs to Reality: Bena’s representatives worked on understanding FAO’s interventions and their environmental and social impacts, and discussed practical mechanisms for implementing the Environmental and Social Commitment Plan ESCP to ensure project sustainability and minimize negative impacts.

At the closing ceremony, Certificates of Participation were distributed to trainees by FAO, the implementing agency. Bena’s team expressed sincere appreciation to FAO experts whose efforts, both in-person and online, were instrumental in the success of the program.

Bena participants affirmed that the workshop’s objectives are noble and closely related to the environmental reality, which motivated them to propose recommendations that will ensure the successful application of these standards in future projects.
